Kei Takishima has always come first to Hikari Hanazono.

Their pro-wrestling-obsessed fathers introduced them when they were six years old. Young Hikari challenged Kei to a wrestling contest, confident that she was the best, only to be thoroughly humiliated by him.

Hikari has vowed to defeat Kei in everything since that fatal occurrence, including school grades, sporting activities, and all competitions.

To do so, she has attended the same elementary school as Kei since elementary school.

Hikari and her pals, i.e. all of the SA members, are the focus of the series.

While Kei and Hikari’s budding relationship is both emotional and hilarious at times, we see the other characters learning and growing as well.

Tadashi’s humour and recklessness, Akira’s depth of sentiments beneath her socialite exterior, Megumi’s courage to protect her friends, Jun’s sensitive side, and Ryu’s animal-loving yet caring side are just a few examples.

Their side storylines are just as fantastic, and even though Kei and Hikari are the primary characters, this is an anime that focuses on all of them.
