Warzone Golden Keycards and Mercenary Vaults play a significant role in Season 4. The new Caldera keycards grant players access to bunkers containing valuable Vaults.
These vault bunkers are a treasure trove of top-notch weapons and gear in Call of Duty Warzone, making them incredibly useful as you navigate the expansive Caldera map.
Players have the opportunity to acquire Gold Keycards through various means. These include completing contracts, opening crates, and even as a potential reward for eliminating other players and teams (which is something you’ll naturally be doing as part of the game).
The locations of the Mercenary Vault and Bunker are clearly marked on the main map. However, it may be a bit challenging to recognize them without prior knowledge.
Below, we’ll provide a more detailed explanation of their role in Warzone Season 4. We’ll also guide you on how to obtain the Golden Keycards and locate the Mercenary Vault locations and Bunkers scattered throughout the Warzone Caldera map.
How to get Golden Keycards for bunkers in Warzone

Obtaining Golden Keycards in Warzone to unlock bunkers is primarily dependent on luck. There are three potential methods that may grant Golden Keycards, although none of them come with a guarantee:
- – Opening crates
- – Completing Contracts
- – Killing players who have them and taking them off them
It’s important to note that the chances of obtaining a Golden Keycard from any of these methods are quite low.
Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that if you happen to eliminate another player, the only way you can acquire their Golden Keycard is if they already had one in their possession.
In other words, you won’t magically create a Keycard out of thin air by eliminating someone.
Based on our observations, it seems that completing Contracts has a slightly better chance of yielding Golden Keycards compared to opening crates.
However, it’s important to note that Contracts take significantly more time to finish than simply opening boxes, so the difference in rewards is not significant.
It seems that there is no clear distinction between Contracts in terms of the rewards they offer. Based on our observations, it appears that any Contract has a small chance of dropping Golden Keycards as a reward.
Otherwise, be sure to explore every crate you come across, as any of them might contain the coveted Golden Ticket you’re searching for.
Explore areas with abundant crates for a chance to discover numerous chests, or opt for safer, less crowded zones where you may stumble upon unopened chests.
On the other hand, there is another option that may not be as popular: camping the entrances to the Mercenary Vaults.
If a player discovers a Golden Keycard, its sole purpose is to unlock the Vaults and Bunkers. In order to protect yourself, it’s advisable to keep a close eye on the door and be prepared to defend against anyone who approaches.
Then gently remove the Keycard from their grasp and take advantage of the acquired items. There’s no guarantee that anyone will show up, but if all the chests around you have been looted and you’re not feeling very hopeful about completing a contract, this method might just do the trick.
Well, in order to accomplish this, it’s important to have knowledge of the locations of the bunkers.
All Warzone Mercenary Vault and Bunker locations
Warzone’s Caldera Map contains a grand total of seven Mercenary Vaults, cleverly concealed underground within bunkers.

- Between Docks and Factory
- Southwest of Runway
- Between Dig Site and Mines
- North of Fields
- Between Lagoon and Airfield
- Southeast of Power Plant
- Northwest of Resort
On the default map, you’ll find scribbled Yellow Circles that indicate certain locations. However, the game doesn’t explicitly mention that these circles represent anything specific.
There is no significant variation between the bunkers when it comes to loot distribution – it is completely random.
When you find yourself inside the circle and the match begins, keep an eye out for a circular vault door icon on the map within that vicinity. It should be labeled as “Transit”.
This is the entrance to the Vault Bunker, which is typically a very strong circular hatch. Take a look at the image below to see what it looks like. Just a reminder, the Transit markers will only show up on the map once the match has officially begun and the drop plane has disappeared!
Discover the hidden entrance, descend the ladder, and you’ll find yourself in a captivating underground space. Keep an eye out for scattered treasures, if you’re fortunate, and encounter some intriguing doors that seem to be sealed shut. You can easily predict what comes next.
How to open Mercenary Vaults and bunkers in Warzone
Once you’re inside the Bunker and searching for the Mercenary Vaults, you’ll come across some doors that can only be opened with the Golden Keycards.

When one of the doors to the Vault opens, all the other doors open too. They all lead to the same interconnected rooms, so it doesn’t really matter which one you choose. Just walk up to the panel and follow the instructions – it will recognize the key card and you’ll have access to the Vault.
Mercenary Vault Rewards
When you crack open that Vault, you’ll be in for a real treat with all the amazing prizes waiting for you.
They’re packed with the orange “legendary” crates, more than sufficient to outfit you and your team with the finest weapons, perks, and killstreaks in Warzone.
Plus, there’s plenty of Cash available, so you can easily purchase a loadout drop if you don’t come across anything you fancy.
Additionally, you can gain a significant amount of experience just by opening the Vault, even if you don’t end up looting anything inside.
Just a heads up, this is a one-time thing – although you may come across additional Golden Keycards and Mercenary Vaults in the same game, remember that the key cards are only good for one use.
Once you open the doors, they’re gone for good. Make sure to grab all the loot before other players snatch it up – the Vault doors won’t close until you do. So, be quick and grab the best stuff!
