The God of War series has evolved tremendously, blending Norse mythology into the core of its recent titles, including God of War (2018) and God of War: Ragnarok.
Fans have waited long enough for this Norse sequel of the God of War, and now that Kratos has toured through Midgard and defied gods, fans are wondering what is next.
Not to mention several new mythologies, new character arcs, and, primarily, new gameplay novelties which God of War has several interesting directions to explore.
New mythologies as the Capacity of God of War
It would make a lot of sense to further take the storytelling outside the Norse pantheon for Kratas. Although Kratos was localized in the Greek mythology arena, he’s stepped into new territory, and players would like to see him fight in other mythologies like Egyptian or Mayan.
Every mythology has different Gods, monsters, and legendary heroes which might pose new interesting concepts for, not only, the story but gameplay as well.
Egyptian Mythology and the Realm of the Dead
The vast tapestry of gods that Egyptian mythology offers, from Anubis and Osiris, could power the next interesting setting for Kratos.
Egypt as of death, magic, and gods of judgment would provide a strong background for Kratos, to explore the unknown of death and possibly reinvent himself.
Turning Points and Catalogs of Salvation
Since revenge and responsibility were given in the game’s first season and forgiveness was explored in season 4, the next theme is redemption and change.
Kraton evolved as the character, where he can have many stories about the man; he still kills and wants to change or maybe leave the warrior life behind.
Introducing New Mythological Pantheons
New pantheons would not only bring freshness to the series but also provide new opportunities to set the world. For instance, Aztec gods would add a new fighting style along with distinctive powers that could modify gaming by changing elements and environment.
New Gameplay Mechanisms for the God of War Sequel
With God of War: That’s why Ragnarok improves combat and story elements while a future game adds a different way of concentrating the series’ trademark difficulty.
That is why potential improvements in the combat and exploration dynamics together with narrative advancement can provide new life to Kratos’ saga without losing firm basics that fans do enjoy.
New Skill Trees and Additional Weapons
One of the future episodes can bring definitions of the versatility of weapons which can be followed by new skill trees that would define the style of the fight in Kratos.
Maybe a mythology of weapons or skills that correspond to the god’s Kratos battles could give the fight each boss more dimensions.
Improved open-world freedom
The next game concept might expand on the world exploration model making the next game even bigger eliminating loading screens and adding to the overall realism of the game.
Players could traverse through The Yggdrasil tree as described on Gamerant.com, making for a much more linked-up experience between different realms.
Companions and New Allies
Atreus has been most prominently featured as a companion character; growing the role of Atreus, or the introduction of new characters would introduce new elements to the scenery.
For example, Kratos and another in the game could fight or reason could solve a puzzle with each of them having different abilities to bring into the game.
